BushCandy Shoe project

BushCandy Shoe project
Members of UClan’s design research group, Fiona Candy, Tim Haslam and Bev Bush collaborated in the summer to produce a 3D printed shoe and inspirational movie for the ‘Footwear Design Challenge’ in the School of Art, Design and Performance.

The project was formed as part of an ongoing exploration into the possibilities for different subject areas to come together to develop innovative content and identify issues surrounding women designers from a female perspective.
This was also initiated to compliment a special event taking place in the school over summer.
On 13th and 14th July 2010 UCLan hosted ‘The Footwear Design Challenge’ in collaboration with Arthritis Research UK, the Helen Hamlyn Centre at the Royal College of Art, the School of Art, Design and Performance and the School of Public Health and Clinical Sciences at UCLan.
This two‐day event brought these three design teams together to brainstorm breakthrough concepts for footwear.
The shoe movie and 3d printed shoes approached this practical brief from a more fanciful perspective.
